So we have been parents for two weeks and are loving it.

The clichés are true. It really does change your life, we are tired a lot and we honestly do think our baby is the most beautiful baby in the world. He just is!

Kelly has recovered from her C-section amazingly and we have got out quite a bit. Stanley is a great little man. He feeds well, he sleeps (quite) well and he can poo with the power of a Karcher power hose.

Sunday saw us make the first trip to Church to show the pram, sorry boy off to our friends. It was a good meeting but Stanley didn’t really get into it as he slept the whole time.

On the walk home afterwards, we passed a sign that opitimised our thoughts about our son!

It is like we have passed through a door into a new world, one where everything changes. Priorities, plans, attitudes and affections all changed as a result of the birth of what I would like to venture is a particularly beautiful baby.

Facts on the birth: Stanley went breech the day before the due date and so we had an elective caesarian two days later. There were a few hiccups that meant Kelly had to have a general. After he was born, I spent nearly an hour with him whilst they stitched kelly up.

NESTING

I came home from work today to find the kitchen a hive of activity but alas, not in preparing my dinner.

The anti-natal classes, as well as teaching me how to breath (helpful in life), open my mind to the concept of nesting. They said the mum to be might suddenly burst into decorating or something similar with just a few days to go. I thought that wouldn’t be the case with kelly as I had done all the DIY and she had a hard drive full of american soaps to watch.

What I forgot is the side to Kelly’s persona that would zip lock individual cocktail sticks if she could. So the empty cupboards, tupperware, labels and alphabetized food organisation should have been expected, maybe the surprise should be that she didn’t use an electronic labelmaker.

Maybe this is a sign things are about to start......

Its been a long time coming and we’re almost there. The countdown is on, tomorrow is 2 weeks to go. Kelly was born early, I was late and we don’t have a clue how this little one will turn out.

The final few days of pregnancy are not exactly the best. The side effects of a baby squashing and mishaping kelly’s insides are beginning to show themselves. I’ll leave it there, suffice to say, kelly’s use of the phrase end times to describe gives a clue.

But we can’t wait. I’d go for an early birth - any day now. Kelly, well, she’d rather wait a while. She’s treating it like an essay - she wants everything done and ready to submit 2 days before time. She also reminds me that she is on annual, not maternity leave at the moment so the baby can’t come yet.
